Time window
A time window is the range of time within which a delivery or a visit has to take place. It is set by the customer or by the contract, and it is the constraint that most shapes how an itinerary is built.
The narrower it is, the more expensive: a two-hour window forces you to reserve capacity and limits the ability to group nearby stops. Offering wider ones, or letting the customer choose among options that are already efficient, is one of the most direct levers on cost.
Its compliance is measured alongside on-time delivery, but it is not the same thing: arriving within the agreed window and arriving on the promised day are two different commitments, and they should not be mixed into a single indicator.
