Municipality of Montevideo: How GoDoWorks increased efficiency in inspecting the condition of Montevideo's sidewalks.

The MI launched the ABC Sidewalks Plan, which aims to massively refurbish sidewalks, since public space is conceived as a fundamental pillar of the right to the city.

The plan follows four strategic lines: public space; commitment; ABC financing; proximity and information.

Neighbors who wish to be part of this plan may do so through a web form or by calling by phone.

The challenge: To survey the state of Montevideo's sidewalks and manage their reconditioning.

A survey plan was designed by municipalities and neighborhoods and was mounted on the GDW solution. The inspectors use the mobile application to inspect the condition of the sidewalks, notifying the citizen in case of irregularities.

By accessing the citizens' portal, the latter can check the photos and the report of the MI and can repair the sidewalk by his own means within the deadline or request the repair to the Municipality using the funding mechanisms provided.

Needs detected:

  • Generate a centralized workflow for sidewalk inspection and reconditioning tasks.
  • To provide tools that provide transparency to citizens in this process.

Our solution allows to survey the state of the sidewalks with its geolocation, digitizing the information and generating service requests and monitoring the status of the same.

The solution: Implement GDW Inspections as the digital management platform for surveying more than 5000 sidewalk condition inspections and more than 4000 repairs.

GDW Inspections generated efficient registration and follow-up processes, thanks to a systematization and digitalization not previously available.

By eliminating paper records, with their inherent reprocessing, the administrative processes for obtaining and managing the information gathered in the field are simplified.

In turn, the availability of this data for management and supervision is improved.

The client's vision is key. MBA Arq. Adriana Gorga Moreira, Director of Urban Development tells her experience with the GDW solution and what milestones were achieved after the implementation of GDW Inspections:

We were able to increase the productivity of inspectors. We have increased the geo-referenced visibility of the status of the veredas by municipality. We identified the average regularization time. We were able to measure the degree of response to the plan.

With GDW Inspections, the Municipality of Montevideo was able to survey key performance indicators to optimize its productivity. Some of the indicators obtained include: geographical distribution of irregularities by municipality, square meters to be repaired and repaired, volume of inspections performed, irregularities in inspection, activities per inspector, average regularization time, among others.

Benefits achieved with GDW Inspections

Enhanced, centralized, real-time sidewalk inspection and reconditioning management capability.

Through digitization, field actions are automatically translated into real-time online information.

More efficient and simpler information gathering process.

This translates into great savings in time, resources and administrative processes, which directly reduces operating costs considerably, achieving evident benefits for the citizens.

The digitization of the mobility of inspectors improves their coordination and provides guarantees in the processes deployed.

It is possible to record sidewalk inspections without difficulty, in order to obtain better and more efficient inspection processes.
